Mojacar
Mojacar is situated on the south-east coast of Spain, about 50 minutes drive from Almeria airport. Mojacar village nestles in the mountain just a couple of kilometres from the beautiful beaches and the Mediterranean Sea. With on average, 3000 hours of sunshine per year, hot summers and warm winters, Mojacar's climate is most agreeable.
When it comes to gastronomy, Mojacar offers a wide selection of restaurants catering for all manner of cuisine from traditional Spanish through to English, Italian and Chinese.
The beaches are one of the major attractions of the area and there are almost 17km of them to explore. Long, clean beaches combine with tiny coves. The new Paseo Maritimo is a tribute to the quality of the main beach. The old village still features a working fountain from which to sample fresh, mountain spring water.

Indalo Man
The symbol etched or painted on to so many houses in Mojacar represents. It is Indalo Man – an image which dates back over 5000 years. A cave painting was discovered in the Sierra Maria-Los Velez mountain range in the North of Almeria province – in La Cueva de Los Letreros (loosely translated as 'Cave of the Signboards'). It depicts a man with his arms outstretched holding aloft an arch or rainbow.
Residents of Mojacar have painted it on their houses and over doorways for centuries believing it would bring them good luck. In the 1960s it was adopted by an avant-garde set of artists in Mojacar and it was they who called it ‘Indalo’ – it has now been adopted as an emblem for the whole of Almeria and is synonymous with good luck; many souvenirs and jewellery incorporate the symbol.
